We’re proud to be Saffron Walden’s first community-owned pub, celebrating five fantastic
years of bringing people together. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a confident,
experienced Assistant Manager to join our friendly and passionate team.
Who You Are
You take genuine pride in your work and love creating memorable experiences for guests.
You understand that true hospitality comes from the heart — from the first warm welcome
to the last goodbye.
You’re calm under pressure, professional in your approach, and know how to lift your team
up and lead by example.
You’ll also bring:
Strong communication and organisational skills
Confidence with IT and social media
Experience in hospitality or pub management (supervisory or above)
A hands-on attitude and passion for great service
A personal licence – advantageous but not essential
What You’ll Be Doing
We’re looking for someone to help take some of the weight off our Manager’s shoulders —
someone who thrives on teamwork and responsibility and who has a community ethos.
Your main duties will include:
Overseeing daily operations and shift management
Leading, training, and supporting team members
Coordinating events and community activities
Maintaining high standards of service and compliance
Managing stock and cellar operations

What We Offer
Starting salary: £30,000 per year + performance-related bonus
Full-time hours (to be agreed)
