Chairman’s Update – 8th April 2021
Dear All,
-Opening Arrangements
-New Logo
Dave has asked me to update you following his Chairman’s Update earlier this week, the first in series of updates from other committee members.
Firstly, we are excited to be able to open the doors of our much loved pub and plan to open – as mentioned – on Friday 16th April from 4.00pm. We will open as per the Government guidelines ie outside only, at the following times until rules relax further. Opening times will be:
Friday 4.00pm to 11.00pm
Saturday midday to 11.00pm
Sunday midday to 10.30pm
The first weekend will be staffed by STRAP members and volunteers, if you are able to lend a hand then please complete our survey here particularly questions1, 3, 5, 6 & 7 – if you have not already done so. We will then be in contact to discuss further
It is planned to operate a table booking system for 15 tables, we may be able to offer tables without a prior booking dependent upon resources available at the time but please bear with us. To guarantee entry we would recommend reserving a table by e-mailing bookings@strap.org.uk
Please be mindful of the Government Covid rules – a maximum of 6 at a table from multiple households or larger numbers of guests at a table must be limited to two households. We will ask all visitors to check in as they arrive, preferably by the NHS Track & Trace app, but by signing in our register if this is more convenient.
The Railway Arms is working towards a Carbon Neutral future. As such we would request that you walk or cycle to the pub or use public transport wherever possible. Alternatively town centre car parks can be used and we will reimburse parking charges for your visit. Limited disabled parking will be available, please drive in carefully using the Station Street entrance only. Please do not use on-street parking in Station St or Station Rd.
As we open up our doors for the first time in many years, we would ask you to be patient as I’m sure there will be a few glitches along the way. We do however intend to stock a range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks, perhaps not quite as extensive until we open fully later in the year but fairly unique and distinct. Food will be limited to pies, pasties, chips and sandwiches as well as traditional bar snacks such as crisps and peanuts
Lastly, you may have spotted at the top of this update that we have a new Railway Arms logo. I’d like to thank the many, many of you that submitted thoughts and ideas, they certainly provoked much thought and discussion and demonstrated that, as a community, we are well served by creatives. Congratulations and special thanks must go to Nick Burke who supplied the winning entry, we will ensure that a bottle of fizz is kept on ice for your first visit back to the pub.
On behalf of Dave and the committee, I look forward to seeing you at the Railway Arms
Cheers
Steve
